Needed Snow + 4.30 PM Update

10:00 AM - January 10, 2024

This could be the start of something good with a few flurries at post. The snow is forecasted to intensify by 10am and carry on into late afternoon where it may become a bit on the damp side.

Update 4.30 PM We have close to 20 CM down here in Bathurst. The snow is really dense due to temperatures nearing zero. The snow fall from 1PM until post has been a mix of snow, hail, and snain. We had basically the same conditions at Nepisiguit. Temps will approach +4 overnight with up to 3mm of rain. At Popple Depot theere is approximately 30 cm down at post. Ron will have the two groomers out in the morning and basically most of the grooming will take place during the day due low snow coverage and fear of damage to the equipment. They will start very early tomorrow morning. Just be a little patient as Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Head pond at Nepisiguit on Trail 52 is not safe to cross yet. It may take another week or two of freezing. The Nepisiguit Lodge will be open for 10 am. Notes: There has been some flooding in the Bathurst area due to high winds and the new moon cycle. I will give updates on grooming in the Thursday post. Our president Curt Bennet will be interviewed this evening on the CBC News at 6PM.
