How Are the Trails

9.10 am Update: I was just speaking with Alyre at Serpentine Lodge on Trail 58/23. He is reporting great going from Doaktown up to Serpentine, Popple Depot Trail 23 to Serpentine and on to Riely Brook and Grand Falls. He feels it could be a long season this year, but he says that we also could use more snow. He’s also reporting that his lodge is busy with accommodations.

Il m’a dit que les conditions étaient excellentes entre Doaktown et Serpentine, ainsi qu’entre Popple Depot et Serpentine, puis Riely Brook et Grand Falls. Il pense que la saison risque d’être longue cette année, mais il ajoute qu’il nous faudrait davantage de neige. Son lodge affiche complet.

Good morning from Bathurst and Club #1. Here is my first report on trail conditions in the Bathurst area. Well it looks like Ron and crew was busy over the whole of this past week and last night and this morning was no different. All trails were done at least once and a few more were done more than three times from the Atlantic Host and Bass River up through the Nepisiguit Lodge and to the Nine Mile shelter on trails 23 and 19. Just a note on 19 from the Host out to Little River Bridge that we are lacking sufficient snow to make a decent job, but 70% of that trail is very good while the other 30% is very passable and caution is advised in this area.

Carrying on from Nine Mile Shelter the trails are in mint condition on 23 to Popple Depot and 22 towards Island Lake and 19 North. Trail 503 from Popple Depot to Trail 19 was also done last night. All side trails (local trails) were done this week as well. Speaking and reading from snowmobilers are saying that trails are awesome, including surrounding clubs like Chaleur, the Park, and Miramichi.

We all know that we are in the need of more snow, especially now that we are getting into months giving longer days and the sun is getting higher. Even on days of -6 and higher, the sun has an effect on the trail base.

In closing my first post I would always like to hear from you with anywhere that you travel so that I can relay the conditions of the trails where you drive. A little safety note: Watch out for Moose!!!!

Bonjour de Bathurst et du Club n° 1. Voici mon premier rapport sur l'état des sentiers dans la région de Bathurst. Il semble que Ron et son équipe aient été très occupés toute la semaine dernière, et hier soir et ce matin n'ont pas fait exception. Tous les sentiers ont été déneigés au moins une fois, et certains plus de trois fois, depuis Atlantic Host et Bass River jusqu'au refuge de Nine Mile, en passant par le Nepisiguit Lodge, sur les sentiers 23 et 19. Concernant le sentier 19, entre Atlantic Host et Little River Bridge, il est important de noter que la neige est insuffisante pour un déneigement optimal. Cependant, 70 % du sentier est en très bon état, tandis que les 30 % restants sont praticables. La prudence est de mise dans ce secteur.

En continuant depuis le refuge de Nine Mile, les sentiers 23 jusqu'à Popple Depot, 22 en direction d'Island Lake et 19 Nord sont en parfait état. Le sentier 503, de Popple Depot au sentier 19, a également été déneigé hier soir. Tous les sentiers secondaires (sentiers locaux) ont aussi été déneigés cette semaine. D'après les témoignages de motoneigistes, les sentiers sont excellents, notamment ceux des clubs environnants comme Chaleur, le Parc national et Miramichi.

Nous savons tous qu'il nous faut plus de neige, surtout maintenant que les jours rallongent et que le soleil monte dans le ciel. Même par -6 °C et plus, le soleil a un impact sur la neige.
