Great Weekend on the Trails

Update 10.40am: Just recovering from Super Bowl party. My team lost, but defensively they were over matched. Moving on to the trails, this is shaping up to the beginning of a very good week on the trails. The weather and the excellent trail conditions are going to make this a week for snowmobiling here in the North. I just got off the phone with Alyre at Serpentine and he is saying the same. Just keep in mind “safety first” on the trails and let the moose have their way. Don’t mess with them.

Je me remets à peine de la fête du Super Bowl. Mon équipe a perdu, mais leur défense était tout simplement trop forte. Passons aux sentiers : la semaine s’annonce excellente. La météo et l'état impeccable des pistes promettent d'être parfaits pour la motoneige dans le Nord. Je viens d'accrocher Alyre de Serpentine, et il confirme. Surtout, n’oubliez pas : la sécurité avant tout sur les sentiers. Laissez les orignaux tranquilles. Ne les embêtez pas.

I’m hoping everyone had a safe and great weekend here in the North. Ron didn’t have the groomers out last night as he felt with the trails being so hard and the lack of fresh snow it would be good to take a day off. There are great reports from everywhere that the trails are in mint condition considering the amount of snow we have. It is getting to that point of the year with the lack of extra snow where the traffic and the higher sun starts to break up the surface and it turns to ice crystals making it that much harder to get the base into that pristine look. Having said this all trails going west and north of Nepisiguit, range from 8 to 10. Ron will have the groomers out tonight.

J'espère que vous avez tous passé un excellent week-end en toute sécurité dans le Nord. Ron n'a pas sorti les dameuses hier soir, car il estimait que, compte tenu de l'état des pistes et du manque de neige fraîche, il valait mieux prendre une journée de repos. On nous signale partout que les pistes sont en parfait état, vu la quantité de neige tombée. On arrive à cette période de l'année où, avec le manque de neige supplémentaire, le passage des skieurs et le soleil plus haut commencent à abîmer la surface et à la transformer en cristaux de glace, ce qui rend d'autant plus difficile d'obtenir une base impeccable. Cela dit, toutes les pistes à l'ouest et au nord de Nepisiguit sont classées entre 8 et 10. Ron sortira les dameuses ce soir.
