Finally. Some Decent Snow

UPDATE: Safety and possible trail closure: STOP SIGNS. People aren’t stopping as they should at stop signs. I don’t mean that they are not doing a rolling stop, but blowing right through without even attempting a STOP. Ron has had several complaints from a resident in the Big River area of Trail 19. The area of concern is where our trail runs adjacent to the CNR rail bed where you cross highway 430 and The Line. About midway there is a road that crosses the rail bed and there are stop ahead and stop signs on either side of this road. Notwithstanding any other stop signs, but the residents are threatening us with closure of this trail. Sécurité et fermeture possible du sentier : PANNEAUX D’ARRÊT. Les usagers ne s’arrêtent pas correctement aux panneaux d’arrêt. Ils ne font pas l’arrêt complet, mais passent sans même s’arrêter. Ron a reçu plusieurs plaintes d’un résident du secteur de Big River, sur le sentier 19. Le point problématique est l’endroit où notre sentier longe la voie ferrée du CN, au croisement de la route 430 et de The Line. À mi-chemin environ, une route traverse la voie ferrée ; des panneaux d’arrêt sont présents de part et d’autre de cette route. Malgré la présence d’autres panneaux d’arrêt, les résidents nous menacent de fermer le sentier.

Thursday, Feb 19, 6am

Well snowmobilers we finally got a nice little storm with close to 15 cm falling over Tuesday night and continuing most of Wednesday and well into the evening. Ron had the three groomers out since 3 and 4 pm yesterday and they were on the trails cleaning up on this continuing snow. They basically covered the trails from Bass River on Trail 19 and the Atlantic Host in Bathurst all the way up to Rogers Lake and Trail 22. However, with this grooming, I’m not going to get into much detail because this will be ongoing throughout tomorrow and we will see where that will take us. Ron informed us that he got the #3 groomer up and running again with a new alternator. I will give more detail update on grooming in the next day or so. Looking at the provincial map there had to be a maximum of 30 groomers out working last night.

On another note, we had our Lodge Supper last night and at this time we would like to thank Hatheway Auto Group for sponsoring last night supper. Thanks to Liam Hatheway of the halfway auto group or being such a great sponsor. The main prize given out last night was a 56 inch flat screen TV which was one by Jean Camille Roussel. Our next supper will be in two weeks time on March 4. It will be a strip loin steak supper so I advise you to get your tickets early.

Chers motoneigistes, nous avons enfin eu une belle petite tempête avec près de 15 cm de neige tombés mardi soir et qui a continué une bonne partie de la journée de mercredi, jusque tard dans la soirée. Ron a sorti les trois dameuses hier entre 15 h et 16 h et elles ont déblayé les sentiers après ces chutes de neige continues. Elles ont pratiquement recouvert les sentiers de Bass River (sentier 19) et de l'Atlantic Host à Bathurst jusqu'à Rogers Lake (sentier 22). Cependant, je ne vais pas entrer dans les détails pour le moment, car le damage se poursuivra demain et nous verrons où cela nous mènera. Ron nous a informés que la dameuse n° 3 est de nouveau opérationnelle grâce à un nouvel alternateur. Je vous donnerai plus de détails sur le damage d'ici un jour ou deux. D'après la carte provinciale, il devait y avoir au maximum 30 dameuses en service hier soir.

Par ailleurs, nous avons tenu notre souper au chalet hier soir et nous tenons à remercier le Groupe automobile Hatheway pour son parrainage. Merci à Liam Hatheway du groupe Halfway Auto pour son généreux soutien. Le premier prix remis hier soir était un téléviseur à écran plat de 56 pouces, signé Jean Camille Roussel. Notre prochain souper aura lieu dans deux semaines, le 4 mars. Au menu : faux-filet. Je vous conseille donc de réserver vos places sans tarder.
