Big Snowfall for Today

Update: 8AM We are fortunate that we have a groomer operator that lives in the vicinity of the Nepisiguit Falls in the person of Francois. With Ron’s foresight with the storm today, he got Francois to move the groomer from Rogers Lake last night to Nepisiguit and it is parked at Francois’s home. This will be perfect to start grooming operations once the storm blows over.

Grâce à la prévoyance de Ron concernant la tempête d’aujourd’hui, François a déplacé la dameuse du lac Rogers hier soir jusqu’à Nepisiguit ; elle est stationnée chez lui. Ce sera parfait pour commencer les travaux de damage dès que la tempête sera passée.

It looks like we’ve been cheated out of snow when we needed it back earlier in Jan and Feb, but this could be the biggest storm this year as they are calling for 35cm and as a matter of fact, probably the biggest in three years. Ron had our groomer out of Rogers Lake and up the 22 to Chaleur’s section of 22. They were also out yesterday as well as Super Village. Trails are all tuned up for this storm, but it could be a little wet. We never groomed down to Nepisiguit, but I was speaking with Kevin V. And he said it was good all the way from Nepisiguit to Nine Mile Shelter. I was also speaking with Alyre at Serpentine and between him and Mark at Governors, the trails are good. You have to realize that the Park shut down their grooming operation for the season back in the middle of March. My opinion only, “” but I feel that the Government run operation in the Park does not coinside with a volunteer organization such as ours (NBFSC) and their commitment to grooming is just a gesture. Their operation is hurting the private operated venues in the area. I think in hindsight that this idea of them handling a grooming operation is going to bite us in the end””.

On dirait qu'on a été privés de neige alors qu'on en avait bien besoin début janvier et février, mais cette tempête pourrait bien être la plus importante de l'année, avec 35 cm prévus, et même probablement la plus importante depuis trois ans. Ron a sorti notre dameuse de Rogers Lake et l'a amenée jusqu'au secteur de Chaleur sur la piste 22. Ils étaient également à l'œuvre hier, ainsi qu'à Super Village. Les pistes sont toutes préparées pour cette tempête, mais elles risquent d'être un peu humides. On n'a pas damé jusqu'à Nepisiguit, mais j'ai parlé avec Kevin V. qui m'a dit que les pistes étaient bonnes de Nepisiguit jusqu'à Nine Mile Shelter. J'ai aussi parlé avec Alyre à Serpentine et, d'après lui et Mark à Governors, les pistes sont bonnes. Il faut savoir que le parc a arrêté le damage pour la saison mi-mars. Ce n'est que mon avis, mais j'ai l'impression que les services gouvernementaux du parc ne sont pas en phase avec une organisation bénévole comme la nôtre (NBFSC) et que leur engagement pour le damage n'est qu'une façade. Leur activité nuit aux établissements privés de la région. Avec le recul, je pense que le fait qu'ils gèrent une opération de manipulation de mineurs va se retourner contre nous.
