Still Cold out There

Saturday Club #1

Ron and his operator crew are doing a fantastic job with what snow we have to work with. Groomers are out most days setting up a great base now that we have these cool temps. Trails range from fantastic down to about 10% of the trails in the doable conditions. I had a great report from Paul Barry from the Miramichi yesterday at our Nepisiguit Lodge. Trail 52 has been groomed from the Miramichi to about 2 Km from the head pond. Groomer had to turn due to water. Paul said the complete 52 to the head pond is very doable, but of course caution is the operative word. Also the 48 from Neguac has been done by done by the Neguac club which also tells you that it is good to go from the La Bonne Route restaurant. Our Three Groomers were out again last night. All Trails covered to Governors. East Bathurst to Host, Host to Nine Mile East Shelter, Rogers Lake to Governors and 503 to Trail 19. See my update on Edmundston Trail System.

I urge that caution be taken with the doable sections. Another word of caution is MOOSE on the trails. There have been up to 25 sightings per day by some sledders and one called yesterday with near miss on The Line (Trail 23/19). This happened at night as he was riding home. He just noticed it at the last second and all he seen was a leg and a huge body. Needless to say he nearly $&!T himself.

SHELTERS. This happened about a week ago; Red Pine shelter was full of people and someone said if you want to come in better put on a mask as we are from Moncton (before the red). In a small shelter you can’t get a more dangerous stetting. (Not a funny thing to say in these times)... We are just on the border of being shut down and if we don’t do our part to help, then this year will finished before we get started. These shelters are for emergency use only.
